The port of Dar es Salaam is located in the Gulf of Dar es Salaam on the east coast of Tanzania, on the west side of the Indian Ocean. It is mainly a natural deep-water port, with an area of about 950000 square meters. Its current throughput is 4.1 million tons of dry cargo and 6 million tons of bulk liquid cargo. The port has a coastline of 2016 meters, 11 deep-water berths and a maximum depth of 10 meters. The port of Dar es Salaam handles about 95% of Tanzania's international trade.
